I have a Chev 358 full race engine designed for road racing that requires 110 Octane race gas at $9.00 a gallon. This is an expensive custom built engine that runs strong but due to the compression ratio being around 13:1 requires the high octane race fuel. Can I just change the heads with a larger combustion chamber to lower the compression ratio and loose say 50 HP and rum regular pump gas?
As most realize that everything in an engine is set up to work in harmony... So is this a good idea to just change the heads or will it upset the rest of the dynamics of the engine and its design??
