Re: Dyno Results - Twin Turbo SBC 427 (bill mcdonald)
Monty, I bet your an extremely proud man right now. A mild mannered, streetable engine with well over 1000 hp, and it all fits under the hood for a sleeper look! That is very awesome. I know I wouldn't be able to sleep tonight if I were you. Now for some in car testing, he he  :smash:

Bill, I would ahve to put together an EXcel spreadsheet, but that's an interesting idea. That's one reason I was really disappointed that we could get the dyno to grab at lower rpms. I wanted to see the affect in power as the turbo's spool up and the engine goes from vacuum to boost.
I really want to know how the turbos spool related to RPM, I guess that is something you will know when you drive it around.
So, any vids or sound clips yet? I want to hear that things scream!

I took some .mpegs but haven't loaded them to my server yet. I'll get them, as well as the dyno sheets scanned in tonight.
I think I'm going to call Jeff up and aask him to do one more pull, this time to 7000. I think it has 1200hp in with the present tune, I figure that's a nice round number, and it was my original goal - 1200hp/1000tq. I know it can do it, it's just a matter of proving it.

Monty, WOW. I assume the oil pump was your pressure issue? I hope you don't mind me asking questions about my future project 427 NA engine.
Iam happy for you.

Re: Dyno Results - Twin Turbo SBC 427 (wheelsup)
Thanks Phil.
I think the oil pump is fine. I just added .080" restrictors instead of .200" in the lifter galleys, and added two turns to the Titan's pressure adjustment. It is fine now with 40psi idling at 850rpm, and 85 psi at WOT.
If you need any help with your 427, let me know. You'll love it.
By the way, just for fun, we ran it again this afternoon during lunch to see if we could get 1200hp at 7000rpm out of the current tune, unfortunately the pipe between the left turbo and the intercooler blew out of the nomex hoses at about 6700rpm, but the hp was still climbing past 1185, so I know it will make 1200 at 7000.
I guess I'll have to weld some beads around the end of the pipes for the hoses/clamps to lock onto. Yesterday, we blew the pipe off the throttle body during a run, but I was able to fix that by tightening the T-bolt clamp a little tighter and tightening the ratchet strap a little tighter that was holding the intercooler up. It shouldn't be a problme in the car since the intercooler is firmly mounted in place, but if it is I can fabricate a brace between the intake tube and the intake manifold that will lock it in place. Jeff said he wasn't surprised it happend since the throttle body is polished aluminum and very smooth. He said it happened to them on the turbo racecar the first few times they ran it, and ended up makeing braces to hold it in place. BOOST is cool....

Re: Dyno Results - Twin Turbo SBC 427 (Monty)
Congratulations Monty!
I am glad that everything worked out in your advantage and got your 1200HP and cool 1000#tq. This should be beast :reddevil to drive and spank on some Vipers.
Now, it's time to drop it in and make some 1/4 mile passes (well, at least one, after you run your first time and they gonna stop you because no parachute :D :D :D :D ).
Well done Monty!
Ziggy

Re: Dyno Results - Twin Turbo SBC 427
WOW....... Wait let me read that again... WOW.... How come thats the only word that comes out of my mouth when looking at those numbers.
Extreemly well done. But one quick question, How is your timing setup?
Reason I am asking, is I am about to have Honest Performance (local cool shop) have their hand at re curving my distributor. I am just a little worried if they will actually be able to profile a curve that would be designed for a twin turbo.

Thanks WashingtonRacer.
I can show you my Spark Map from my SpeedPro/FAST, I don't know how much it'll help, but it'll give you an idea of where we took timing out.

Sounds good! Have you seen a Doctor lately? :D j/k...that's a nutty amount of power. I almost dropped my soda when I read those figures(the second pull)! Be careful with that monster...and congratulations! It's been a long time coming.

Words don't describe those type of numbers. How are you going to get traction? Have little jets hooked up in front of the tires that spray traction compound on them? Jeez man. Nice numbers. Can't wait to see some times. Have fun.

Re: Dyno Results - Twin Turbo SBC 427 (BigBlue)
My plan is to install 5# springs in the wastegates, there are 10# in there now. That should reduce the power somewhat, and I can use the boost controller to increase boost past 5# if I need it or can use it on the street. I may try an electornic boost controller, which is programmable, allowing you to limit boost at low rpm ranges in order to help traction.
