solid roller
I was looking to convert to hyd. roller but I found out I need retrofit lifters and that would cost me much more...and even so, they are unavailable right now. So my thought drifted to solid rollers...do they have the same issues? do I need some special type of lifters? Are they on a shortage too?

I can't speak for the solid, retro-fit, roller (there is some other kind?) lifters, specifically, but until the Federal Mogal debacle is solved, lifters of all sorts will become more scarce. I know of one engine kit supplier that won't sell a lifter unless it is conjunction with a "kit". Want a set of lifters? Sorry! They don't want their hands tied for selling kits, by not having the lifters to put in the kits.
