Default Thoughts for next engine? Forced induction? Hmm....

I've been thinking for the past few days what I'd like for the next heart in the '87 when the L98 finally pops a connecting rod or two. :)

I think I wanna go supercharger. Why? Why not? I don't now of any "drop in" turbo kits for the L98s, otherwise I might be up for the task of that. I love the sound of turbos spooling. :D

I have a lead on a 4-bolt 350 Roller block.

What would something like a forged 383 running 6-8 # of intercooled boost be like? Then slap a 100 shot "for the heck of it" on top of it? :)

If you are looking to run a blower look into the Prochargers. I have been doing a lot of research on them, it may be the next upgrade for my 69 or I may buy a 63 race car (Someday) 750-800 Hp on pump gas with a small block is easy. NOS and blowers sometimes can be a little tricky to get tune together properly. The Procharger will make more than enough power.

The friends 1075 rwhp camaro I drove was a Procharger blown 434 small block, a little radical for the street, although it sees some street time.

Have you seen what the C5 guys are going through with the Prochargers? I dunno, a little skeptical.

Why bother with the 100 shot? Why not just be honest and run more boost?

I guess long term durability and keep the silly spray on reserve just "in case" it has to be pulled out.

I do not go to the C-5 forum very much, most of their topics are boring. I do not know of any problems with the prochargers from the guys I know who run them.

I think the C5 boys are under the impression that blowers will work great without much computer work because all of their other mods do. I think all the problems they are complaining of are tuning related correct?? Anyway I used to be partial to vortech because I didn't really know much. I like that the ATI's have the better intercoolers, I like the self-contained feature, and I like that you can get the big D-1 for any of their kits. The D-1 is the equivalent of the entry level race vortech, the YS. Its good for 100hp more than the T-trim, that means you can get fairly extreme on the normal D-1 intercooled setup with out ordering special parts.

I don't know any of this from experience however, I only know what I've read. :seeya

It does look like turbos are way too much of a custom effort, but now superchargers.......GO FOR IT!
I'm bolting one on now and it's really not bad-of course have to retune everything again, but that's really no biggie either. So just start keepin' an eye out for a deal!

Not only that, but I have seen many of them complaining about massive belt slippage.
