Big hole drilled in the crank for balancing??? 21mm x 33mm deep!? I've seen smaller holes drilled before, never this big...
I bought this shortblock build by a local shop Balancing Act.
ls3 block, ls3 rods, forged pistons and ls6 crank...

I plan to put this in a track car...

Judging by the position of the hole, I'd say that the shop was trying to lighten the crank, not balance it. All the additional holes for balancing with Mallory metal that I've seen were outboard in the counter-weight flanges - never near the center of the crank's rotation.

Thanks for your input.
I made a few calls and yes you're right, they only drill the counter weights to balance... I am still learning😉
This hole is either OEM or someone tried to lighten it before... I was told it is fine for my goal of 600hp?
