Aluminum Flywheel for street application?
If you are running a 2:20 or 2:54 Muncie for 1st gear ratio. 2:54 would be better than 2:20 with an aluminum flywheel.
The more horsepower ( 350 h.p.)and higher rear end ratio 3:70 or higher the easier it would be.
If you are just using car for the street, it would probably be more driveable with a stock cast flywheel.
I just sold my 69 with a 350/350h.p. engine, 3:36 rear, and 4 speed. It had a stock flywheel and it worked great for on the street and for a few speed events.
Aluminum flywheels usually have a hardened material on the clutch disc area which may be able to be resurfaced depending on how much deterioration that takes place due to extreme or long useage.
As far as resurfacing, the one i have (Fidanza) has a removable steel friction surface which can be resurfaced (probably only once) or replaced. I've seen similar products from either Hayes or possibly RAM.
