Ran when i parked it..

Ran when i parked it..
I have a 75 350 in my car. and it ran when i parked it for the winter. But now it just turns over and over and over... I did put a new fuel filter in the carb and picked up some ether.
same thing over and over. just when i think to my self, OK no spark it sputter a few times but will not fire enough to start.
With out saying "new plugs wires and distrib" what can i do to verify what the cause is. Mind you I'm not dumping money into this engine because it is getting pulled this summer. i just want it to run decent enough to move it around. or at least on to my trailer LOL
Checked fuel fine
tried eather
checked rottor and cap both fine
plug wires look decent none are melted and "grounded"
pulled a few spark plugs they are black, but dont seem bad enough to keep it from running.
thoughts?

its hard to check spark with just me.
so last night I lured a couple friends in with beer, and we check every plug for spark.
checked for spark, if not put a new plug in the boot and checked again.
long story short 3 spark plugs were bad, and 2 plug wires were bad. which means i had no spark on 5 out of 8
changed them out, shot some ether down the carb and she fired right up.
boy oh boy did she let out a cloud of smoke :P
But she now moves under her own power to be put on the trailer and get a heart transplant (LQ9 swap)
