Im looking to clean up a pair of heads for street performance and was wondering if anyone was familiar with the 3973487 heads; I've seen that they are 76 cc and came on 71-72 LT1 350's
Re: are 3973487 heads worth rebuilding or porting ? (14-Paul)
I found this today if anyone else needs the info:
"487" – 3973487, OR 3973487X. The regular casting was found on the 1971-1972 350 LT-1 engines, had 1.94/1.50" valves, 76CC combustion chambers, DO have accessory holes, intake port volume should be 161CC's, exhaust port volume should be 65CC's. The 487X had 2.02/1.60" valves.

I think if you dabble in port work the Pro Topline Torkers are the way to go.
I have a set flowing high 260's intake high 190's ex . These heads are 349.00 a set bare machined for screw in studs ,thick decks and improved water jackets for additional cooling. If you shop around a complete ss valve's,springs and nice forged locks and retainers sell for 167.00 and all will clear .555 lift. No valve job needed, will lap in
If you don't do port work the out of the box Lightning series 180's and up are very nice and price is usually around 700.00 a pair assembled and ready to go
