I'm gettin ready to build a motor and am a little afraid of whatever quote the machinist is going to come back with for scraping up a bare block.
Any one have any ideas on what cars the four bolt main 350 engines were used in? Is there a way to externally tell if it is a 2 bolt or 4 bolt?
how much does a bare block go for?
I'm pretty much fixed on the late model roller motor. Word is that when the manufacturers come out with new retro fit roller lifters they will be almost 500 dollars. Too much for me.
Re: need a late model roller small block (71roadster)
A few years ago i got a LS1 and ZF-6 for $3500 out of a rearend TransAm. With the help of my Mr Good Wrench chevy dealer mechanic friend we cloned it into a 90 Vette with a blown motor that I picked up for $5000.
quite of few of the auto junk yards are networked and I told them what I was looking for and they picked it up at a insurance auction and gave me a call

http://www.mortec.com/ here's a good link for casting numbers. i wouldn't think a bare 350 block should cost too much........ 3 or 400 bucks maybe? i know the 400 block market is around 400 dollars and they're getting harder to find all the time. good luck!
