Hello recently purchase a 77 corvette with a bad engine and I want to know what will be a good engine to drop, will one of those newer LS1 from the 90s fit on it. thinking on swapping the engine and with that whit could be a good combo trans, not looking for a track engine just something nicer maybe manual transmission. any idea.

You seemly can transplant an LS1 into any engine bay if you're willing to work at it. There are books out there that cover the transplant.
. For an easy swap, it's hard to beat the ZZ4/ZZ5 engine packages.
To start with a baseline for your current performance, what transmission and rear end ratio does your '77 currently have? Do you have the stock 2-into-1 exhaust system with the pancake catalytic converter still, or do you have a true dual exhaust system?
