as long as i can remember my car has always made my eyes burn, when at idle, my other motor was the original l-82 othere than a 350hp cam and a 650 double pump, now with this new motor it does the same, what gives?? i have a o2 sensor and digital read out, that tells me the engine is running normal...
today was the first day i drove it in 15months, only because i plan to race it oct 13th a NED
also my car reaches 200 degrees but then drops to about 195 when the electric fan kicks on, i have the temp sender monted in the intake, would that reading be acurate compaired to being in the head??
after 15 months I sure hope you drained and refilled with fresh gas! that stuff don't last forever.
A rich idle will burn the eyes, you could check the base timing and then reset the idle mixture screws using a vaccume gage (go for highest vaccume). but some performance engines just like a rich idle (lumpy cams and a rich idle seem to go hand in hand).
ps, try some race gas and see your eye's REALLY burn :jester
BTW: sharp vette
