1964 327 carb adapter plate?

Hello everyone. So I have a 1964 327 with the original manifold and bought an Edelbrock 1405 carb. It used to have a carter carb. I’ve tried several adapter plates with no luck. I’m sure I’m not te first to encounter this problem. Can anyone shed some light on this problem, it’s very frustrating. Any help is much appreciated.

This is with the plate on top. Holes don’t line up and have gaps

This is with the Edelbrock 2696 plate

the 2696 is for a speadbore to squarebore or squarebore to spreadbore, you dont have that configuration. Did you try a Edelbrock 2732?
