Hi, This seems to be the right place for this. apologies if I'm wrong about that.
I have a small block Chevy motor that I put into my barn in the early 1980s. It came out of a C10, hence the exhaust manifolds, but I was told it was a Corvette engine.
It ran when I yanked it from the totaled truck, and is still free when turning the flywheel.
I tried to get a number from the front of the block, but didn't find one.
I did find this number on the back of the block.
Can anyone here verify the engine from this? If it is a Corvette motor, is it worth anything?
Thanks,
Bill
It's not a corvette engine IMO 65 283 from a car. The ram's head exhaust manifolds probably led to the false corvette id. Chevrolet used the "center dumps" on a variety of different body types into the mid late 60s.
