Your thoughts. I.. need to build a motor for my 69. I have the original motor but I’m not ready for it yet. So in the mean time I am going to build a roller cam motor. I have a 1975 sbc 2 bolt. Complete and I can get a 1990 l98 corvette motor for $800.00. both need rebuilds,. Is the newer block worth it if all else is equal. I will switch to carb. I know the roller conversion is more involved in The 75. The l98 has the roller cam provisions, and a drilled manual fuel pump. I have a set of trick flow double hump heads to use. Looking for 350 plus’s hp.
is the newer block worth the 800
or is there a better way
I'm doing the work except for machining, so cost isn’t going to be too high, I have the heads
thanks for helping

Yes, I'd say it was worth the $800 for the roller block. The spider & dog bones removes the linkage between the lifters and I like the 1-piece rear main. The '75 block will easily produce the HP you are looking for, but you'll need the mentioned linked lifters & a button for the cam.
A new GM block is roughly 1000 or so through Summit last time I checked
Going roller totally worth it in the long run. Like lots of older FTs but questionable quality of lifters/cam cores are hit and miss these days
Sucks Gm stopped making those great lifters.
