It should work, my cousin used a similar setup with his Cuda when he owned it in San Fran. What compression is the max. I can run with a turbo, I know that superchargering is ideal around 8.5:1. Presently I am running 10.5:1 with @ 490 hp, just think it would be fun to add a turbo to it.
Granted, you can make big boost numbers with 8:1 or so but I've seen a local LS1 running stock compression, big cam and a Procharger running 7 PSI boost on pump gas. You should be able to do the same thing with a turbo. If the motor's volumetric efficiency is high and using a big turbo with low boost, big gains in horsepower are possible. Add some race gas to the mix and make some big numbers.
It is always recommended to run lower compression and more boost then high compression and little boost. I run 8-1 compression and 12 pounds of boost which puts me close to 14-1 effective compression. I run 94 octane fuel and LOTS of advance but have a boost retart system for leaning on it. Normal driving advance is around 40 to 43 degrees. I run lean at normal cruising speeds, 15-1 and use boost referenced power valves that drop the mixture to 13-1. I get at least 12 mpg around town, never foul plugs or have heating problems.
Thanks Norval, SuperFast80 and I will make it down to see you this spring, he may need a break from the baby and now that my family is well I would just like to meet you and see your setup.
