It's essentially still around. If you live in an area that requires oxygenated gasoline it might have up to ten percent ethanol. The other widely used oxygenate is MTBE, but it's being phased out. Within a couple of years all oxygenated gasolines will have ethanol.
The 90/10 mixture of gasoline/ethanol - "gasohol" - that was marketed beginning in the early eigthies predated the oxygenate requirement.

In Ontario we are being legislated to use this as Norval stated, our emissions laws are just really starting to kick in and with the new " Kyoto Accord" we can expect a significant increase in the price of our gas to reduce emmissions.
