Here's a pic of my new intake I bought :D . It's a pre-production intake that Lingenfelter made for Accel. This should hopefully work well with the new engine that's in the works. I'll be installing 36# injectors for my 600hp goal. I'm really excited about this intake because it's got 4 corner cooling much like the Brodix & Dart intakes I looked at.
I've been looking for some time now for an efi intake. I wanted a tunnel ram, but didn't rule out a single plane intake to modify. Edelbrock has a new EFI intake coming out much like this one, but they don't know when it'll be available.
Edelbrock has that intake available now. Whats the height of that intake? I got those same style fuel rails. They polish up so nicely. I like that intake more, ended up going with the Holley manifold. It seemed very similar to WP's or Dart's manifolds.
mike,
jack asked me to respond to this e-mail. the manifold is a VICTOR E # 2978 that we put injector bosses on. it is not actually available yet by the looks of it right now it is at least a couple of months out still. as far as a supplier any speed shop or mail order company can take care of getting it for you.
This is a picture of the efi intake I was looking into:
Lingenfelter was shipping the intake out to me yesterday (Monday) so I'm not sure of the height yet.
What throttle assembly are you going to use? I am interested in building a similar manifold at some point - same 600-650HP. I was going to construct a box plenum to set centered atop the single plane to bring the total manifold/port volume to 10 single cylinder displacements. That should strengthen the ram-tune and pull up the midrange. The throttle plates would be on the front of the box plenum. Also, what are the cross-sectional dimensions of the runners on that manifold, and the runner lengths?
Mann I am sick of listening to my local shop. They first said they didn't even exist when I first asked, so then I went and bought the holley, the next day I go back to the shop and the guy comes to me and said Hey I found it and they said we could have it in a week. you want it? I then said no, I already bought one. But thats just funny that they said they could have it in a week.
Anyways, good looking setup though. perhaps we will both embark on this Fuel injection world at the same time. Heck perhaps we can get enough people intrested we could do a group buy on the Gen 7 DFI units. I found a new low price of 1,200 for a compete setup with calmap 2003 "didn't know they released a new version, apparently just yesterday" and all the sensors. 845 for wideband option.
HeaderDesign, I should be getting the intake within the next couple of days. I'm not really sure how to measure the cross-sectional dimens & runner lengths. They didn't give me these dimensions as this is a proto-type manifold.
Washington, I know what your taking about, things can get very frustrating at times :( . I still need to get a cmputer/ sensors/ wiring harness so I would be interested in a group purchase idea :) . $1200 doesn't seem too bad, where did you find that?
You can measure the runner cross-section using a V-shaped wire about 12" long. Bend it into a V for a handle, then flare the ends out until they just drag both sides of the runner. Then use your calipers and measure the wire ends out-to-out. Measure each direction in the runner near both the intake manifold and plenum. Don't confuse the gasket mating surface dimensions for the actual minimum runner dimensions. Measure the radii in the corners of the runners with a drill bit. Then put it on paper and find the area. Runner length is measured with a heater hose placed down the center of the runner. You really need to know this length from the back of the intake valve to the plenum.
I saw a dyno test of a 408" pump gas motor the other day. They picked up 37 HP with that intake in carb form over the other single plane on it. It pulled hard to 7200 rpm with a small solid roller cam.
(SmokedTires) I found the setup on Ebay, the auction ended before I could actually bid, But have been shooting him E-mails back and forth. He is a qualified installer of the Accel System and sells a bunch of them. However he is saying that the F.A.S.T system might be a better option cause for 1,699 I get the whole system including a wideband o2. I am waiting for more details, and will remember to write down his e-mail "it's on my work account."
