Do any of you guys have suggestions on shutting my high flow fuel pump up? It's mounted right under the passenger seat where it's clamped to the frame of my C3 with a rubber hose around it. I REALLY don't want to move it, because there really isn't a better place for it. It's starting to get a bit annoying though. :banghead:
I always mount my electric pumps close to the tank as possible, it's really the ideal location. Holley's are notorious for louder pumps, but in the rear it's not too bad. Then again with my side pipes you don't hear too much. :D
My 1st thought was Holley Blue electric pump, I've always heard people complain about how loud they are. I'd see if you can find a quieter pump to replace the one you have if you don't want to relocate it.
I got the fuel pump from Accel. It's not really that loud, but the constant buzzing can be frustrating. Especially when you have a nagging girlfriend in the passeger seat. It would be easier to dump the girl then move the pump.
Actually, your problem is not the fuel pump. Your problem is that your car is too quiet! Just get some sidepipes or headers and big exhaust pipes and you should not hear the pump anymore! :D
I've got a Holley Blue pump mounted to the fuel rail right by the tank and I can't hear it while driving. Check the underside of the car back by the tank. There are a few places where the pump should mount relatively easily, and you are better off with the pump as close to the tank as possible anyhow.
I have a holley in the back just under the tank. It does growl a little. I can tell when it's sucking air - time to gas up.
Monty made his pumps quieter by installing a sump in the bottom of his tank.
