Default CLUTCH HELP!!!!

I am in a desperate search for a flywheel, clutch setup that will contain upwards of 1,100hp but be able to provide a "capable" street drivin setup. Any ideas??? I need to get this ASAP and was looking at the triple disk designs from Tilton or so, I guess they will certanly provide the holding force, but apparantly does not provide the ability to be drivin in traffic.

The McLeod dual disc may be worth looking at. I'd give them a call and see what they recomend.

I don't know about 1100 HP, but I have a CenterForce dual friction clutch assy (11") with a neutral balanced 2 piece seal flywheel. The flywheel weighs a ton. Good for an engine with LOTS of cam.

I currently have the centerforce DF too, but at 470hp it burned that clutch up rather quickly. luckly enough when it really went out, I was still able to make it home.

I found McLoed makes a SOFT LOK clutch, retails for about 1,499 which is a little high for me at this point since I am completly out of money for the moment. So the street twin "$899.00" seems like more of the option, However now I am looking to see what kind of flywheel requirments are needed with the soft lok, Perhaps I can just get the flywheel for the moment, get the Rotating assem balanced, then I finally get the block back and start putting things together, and measuring things out. This part won't cost money so I can finally have a chance to save some and then buy the clutch portion when I really need it. Seem like an idea? anyone got connnections to people with good prices on Mcloed clutches???

That Centerforce DF really gets some mixed reviews!

I need a clutch for my new 406 but upon doing a search found everyone is evenly split on what brand is a good clutch!

I can't give you any specific advice but can offer some thoughts. One is that with that kind of power, you're not likely to find a street friendly clutch that offers much longevity. Another thought is that the clamping force needed to contain that much power will severely stress the linkages to it. That kind of power is usually associated with race only use and replacement between races is an accepted part of doing business.

Yeah, Thats what I am afraid of, but I want to make sure of whats available before I come to that decision. On top of that I may at one point make this a race only car, but in the mean time I want to enjoy the idea of making it streetable.
