water pump and pulleys
I just built a 421 small blk for my vette. The car came with a 327 with short water pump. As I got the motor done almost, I started to bolt up the Edelbrock 8810 water pump and it hits on my timimng cover, I am running a roller cam with a button and a reinforced timing cover, even the stock GM water pump off the 327 hits to. Now if I go to long water pump.I am going to have to change all the pulleys, Am I going to be able to use the same power steering pump(but change the pulley)? I am using electric fans so the fan wont be a issue. Not sure with way I need to go. I can post some pics if needed.

The WP on my 68' Camaro's 327 just died .........after only 18 years :lol: I guess 7,000 rpms takes its toll over time.
You may still be able to use the short pump, but not that one.
If just the back WP cover bolts hit, change them out to some low profile pan bolts.

$95 at my local GM dealer.
The shaft end is 3/4" so I had to drill out my pulley, spacer & fan extension from 5/8 to 3/4. no problem.
You don't have a mech fan so :thumbs:
Worse case, you will have to go to a long leg pump..........then everthing changes :eek:
If you used a 400 sb, you will have to get a different WP!
