I recently bought a Prothane Urethane trans mount for my TH-400. I just installed the matching motor mounts today after quite a wrestling match. The problem is- in comparing the height of the stock trans mount, the Prothane mount is 1/4-3/8" taller. I've already confirmed that I have the right part # for my application, so that's not the issue. The height difference concerns me since it will raise the rear of the trans by that amount, thereby possibly having an effect on driveshaft angle.
I called Summit & the guy said that the Prothane trans mounts in late model Camaros are also slightly taller than stock & have been causing vibrations in those cars. So, the big question is-
Have any of you guys used this mount & if so have you had any problems? I pretty much need to know by Sunday morning because I need to have the car together by end of day & should be able to get a stock mount at a local store.
If you don't have any direct experience I'd still be interested in your opinions. THANKS.
Re: Help Fast Please- Trans Mount Problem (CFI-EFI)
As it turns out a new stock mount was the same height as the Prothane, so apparently the old one was somewhat compressed. The Prothane is now in place. Thanks for the input guys.
