I have an 84 corvette and I need a new engine. I have talked to several companies about getting one. People in the C4 forum have been talking me out of getting the engine I am interested in. Its a 350HP and 385 lbs Torque engine with a custom intake and fuel system. They said that because its dynoed at 350 HP i wont get no where near that out of it. WHAT DO U THINK? are they crazy? I want to get as much HP as possible with out changing the car to much I basically want to pull and drop, no other modes but maybe exhaust. I dont want to have to use a stall convetor on it or anything like that I want it to be a daily driven car let me know that u think.

That sounds like a very good and strong candidate for a daily driver. You said it had a custom fuel system. Is it compatitable with your stock system? Some people are hung up on high numbers ( 1000hp/ 1000ftlb torque ) without regard for driveability or long range cruising with reasonable realiability. Now you've gotten me in trouble with at least half of the forum for taking the conservative side of this issue. That's OK, you take that approach and enjoy your Vette alot more often than the overkill people. Hershey :chevy :chevy
Its a 350HP and 385 lbs Torque engine with a custom intake and fuel system... I basically want to pull and drop, no other modes but maybe exhaust.
The two quoted statements seem to be in conflict with each other. The "custom intake and fuel system" sounds like it is set up for a carb. If so, it is not likely to be a "pull and drop" situation. If you convert the car to the dyno'ed carb set up, you are likely to get the 350 HP, advertised. There WILL be conversion steps necessary to use the carb. Throttle linkage, fuel lines, pressure regulator, distributor, are just the few things that pop off the top of my head. Others have done this, and it is not a difficult task, but in MY oppinion, it ranges past "pull and drop". On the other hand, if you abandon the "custom intake and fuel system" you will end up with a fresh Crossfire, possibly with a compression and cam upgrade, but nowhere near 350 HP. Good luck, and...
Have you considered the GM 330 hp crate long block engine? It's reasonably priced, would be a big improvement over your current engine, and shouldn't be too much for your stock intake to handle. As others have posted, your stock intake won't support as much power as other intakes.
Your limited by the Crossfire Injection. With a little porting work the intake can possible support 280 to 300 hp. I would look for an engine in that performance range. You will have a nice driver that will run with the majority of the TPI cars.
well the engine that i was talking about with the custom intake is not carb itrs fuel injected but the guy i talk to is not the spealist i have to call him tomorrow and get more details but I am open for any options, in order to get the vette engine I need to sell my other car (1992 camaro RS, 25th anniversary, with heritage package) for 3000 then spend the 3000 on the vette engine. If any one knows any sites or numbers to call with an engine that i can get with that let me know. The company i talked to is JASPER its a 350 HP 385 tor. but I was told that when i put it in it wont have the full HP. so i dunno if i am going to get that then. I want to run in atleast a 13's maybe less with no major mods besides diffrent engine.
THANKS

If it is anything other than a Crossfire, see my comments above, on converting to a carb. Besides the aforementioned modifications, a computer and wiring harness will need to be added to the list. Good luck, and...
There's just so many options....if you stuck using the crossfire manifold and set-up.....go to the crossfireforum.....www.crossfire.webhop. net
Will give you plenty of answers....
