Default AFR Heads Purchased!

Just ordered set of 1050 210cc heads for my old style 407 small block chevy.

Plan to use them with a small solid flat tappet cam to make easy tuning with my Holley EFI. I think the engine will still make good power...much more so than my 041 castings...:)

They claim 6 weeks...I'm not holding my breath...:(

You may see your heads earlier than you think! When I orded mine they said 8 weeks. At around 5 weeks after the order I called to see how it was looking, they told me still another 3 weeks. Within a couple days the UPS man showed up with the heads. Apparently they didn't even know they were on the way...

As far as how they run.... my 407 is done and about to be installed this weekend, so i'll be sure to report.

One note, and this could of just been a fluke....but. I had mine vacuum tested right out of the box at least half of the valves failed. :(
The seats (and valves) had a non-concentric cut (old stones?). I had the seats fixed and the valves touched up and they all seal perfect. Also, I had a little extra work done in the bowl and exhaust port as my machinist felt there was a little room for improvement. (yes, i trust him...for good reason).

So, just check the seats for a little piece of mind, its easy enough. Its a good idea to tear down any assembled head...people make mistakes.

Good luck, hopefully mine will run as planned. :reddevil

That is a good point.

I had planned to have them looked over and cced and flowed by my local shop. Give me some hard and fast numbers to play with. Doing the vacuum test is one that had not crossed my mind, but will do.

Thanks

:)

My first purchase of aftermarket heads...like I said, it ought to make the 400 air pretty good. Hoping for a 7000 rpm shift point...with my Tremec.

Can't wait...
