BB Push Rod Guide Plate alignment?

BB Push Rod Guide Plate alignment?
Has anyone else had to do more than just slide the guide plates around to get the roller rocker tips to square on the valve stems? I am heating them up, bending each one of them to get the right fit. I am using Comp Cams BB guides which were touted as being meticulously made to avoid such hassles.
On my engine, the spread between the adjoining rods needs to be a tad bit greater.

i had to do that on every BBC i ever built. i just cut them into 2 pieces lined up the roller rockers on the valve tip by tapping the guides around and then tack them with a wire welder. remove them and finish the weld using a old head for a fixture :chevy
