Do blowers require "special" pistons?
I was just perusing a parts catalog and notice they sell "blower" pistons. What's different about them vs. a NA application piston?
I'm in the early stages of doing a build up and am entertaining the idea of S/Cing. My stock 89 4bolt main block has been hot tanked and the shop waiting for my instructions on it. I have a fresh forged crank and h-beams.
If I decide to supercharge, I wouldn't be able to install and tune it till the winter. Would I be able to run NA with rings that are gapped for forced induction for a coupla months?

A blower piston has an inverted dome which lowers the compression ratio down to 7.5-8.5 to 1
Also the ring-lands are typically thicker on a blower piston to withstand the added stresses.
