I have a chance to pick up a manifold that has a powdercoated paint applied to it. Only problem is it's Ford blue :U
How difficult is it to remove this junk? I really don't want to sandblast the manifold if I can avoid it. Does this powercoating stuff come off with liquid paint stripper?
Dep - Did you know that 79 L-82's motors were painted a light blue and the aluminum intake was nearly identicle in design as the famed LT1's 375 and 350 hp motors intake maniflods

Knew about the blue Chevy engines, knew they had an aluminum intake, but don't they use a smog carb...Quadrajunk?
I'm not so good at Vette trivia. Those computer quadrajets were the 81 models. I also thought that quadra jets were not a performance item. But they really do have some good points if you understand how they work and how to make jetting changes.
I took mine off when it was nearly brand new. It sat in a sealed box for nearly 20 years. Then someone one this forum ask for help doing a restore of a 79 L-82 so I mailed him it. My old manifold is on an NCRS show car because it & the air cleaner and all the vacuum and smog hoses were in taped up sealed boxes for nearly 20 years. So the rubber/paint looked brand new. They were only on the motor maybe two - three months from the showroom floor.
gkull: No way I could ever run a QJ. I rank them at the bottom of the barrel with Thermoquads and those old Rochester pots on the 50's Vettes and the Ford crud 4bbls of the mid and late 60's. Holley or AFB is the only way I'll go and of the two, Holley is my preference. It was designed for performance from the beginning and it's what they use on performance cars. You won't see two Quadrajunks on any tunnel rams ;)
I passed on the powdercoated mani for a plain cast one. Do they do that powdercoating in a clear non-shiny coating? That would be nice to keep the natural grey aluminum color clean!
