These would be more like 1/2 inch or -8 I think lines that run from the front to rear crossover. I seen other people with them I was just wondering if they really did anything.
George,
Look at the January edition of Hot Rod magazine, top of page 79. They decided to plumb between the intake and heads because they filled the block to the bottom of he water-pump holes with "Hard Blok" for rigidity (this is on a 400 SB). Whether it's needed on a non-filled or partially-filled block, I don't know
Deen mentioned the magic word "400 sb". The addition of cooling lines is generally called for on hot rod small blocks with siamese cylinder bores - like the 400 block uses. Depending on the type of racing and cylinder head selection, some small block non-splayed valve applications will also utilize an additional cooling line plumbed in right under the two center exhaust ports.
George I have the 4 corner port manifold cooling lines on my intake. My builder told me that it help keep the coolant temp my consistant front to back for more consistancy for one cylinder to the next.
I'm hoping I'll be able to use them with the injectors located where they are, right now they stick out where the valve cover will be. I will rotate the injectors 180* to see if that does the trick. I think I paid $135 for the SS hose & fittings :nonod:
My Brodix intake had the four corner holes for the water distribution line. I used -8 braided hose. My setup looks similar to SmokedTires. Will the 427 be carbed or EFI.
I have used them on my 542 and now on the 632. I can't tell you before and after because they have been there from day one. It is easy to do and just makes sense.
