I have a CR 288 (11-692-8 ) mech rollercam and my engine is almost done but should i use a Bronzegear on the Dist or will it work with the standard gear?
I searched the CC homepage without any luck and it doesnt seem to have a Email adress to their support, only a phonenumber.
Can someone help me with this?

Re: Comp cams rollercam.. (88-406)
I was sceptical but tried the new carbon fiber gear Comp makes (100 bucks  ) but I just tore my motor down and the gear looks brand new. I would reccomend it. Bronze gears need replaced pretty often.
I don't have a catalog right here, but I assume that is one of the 288 street rollers? If so, I believe they are made on an "austempered" core that can use a stock gear. At least mine was. You can tell because the appearance of the cam is sort of black like a stock cam instead of shiny steel billet like a race cam.
If it is the austempered one, then a stock gear will work fine.
Thanks for your input in this question.I have a almost brand new Bronzegear on the dist now. I could phone Comp and talk to them, but its hard for me to talk about technical stuff in english.. :nonod:
I have a XR-288HR and it uses a cast gear. ~most mechanical rollers are made of billet stock and require a brass distributor gear, however, some "street rollers" have the option to use a pressed on cast gear.
If that is the case there is no reason to use a brass gear. Also, should you use the brass gear make sure to check it for proper wear/contact.
Comp makes a polymer gear that is supposed to last a LOT longer than the brass one. If you need to go with brass I would consider the polymer, but at ~$100 its a bit pricey.
After going through a number of bronze gears I emailed comp cams with my part number and it came back with a stock gear will work fine. I have run the factory steel gear for years now without a problem.
Email comp cams and they will tell you for sure but I bet the stock gear will work and it is much more reliable then the bronze gears.
