The critical part of this "tool" is the part that duplicates the lands in the distributor housing. If you simply turn the the oil pump, with a slotted shaft, you won't get oil upstairs on both sides of the engine. I made one, once, by grinding the teeth off the drive gear of a junk distributor. This had the advantage of the lower part of the gear, capitivating the shaft. I hacksawed the large body off of the top of the dist, and then ground the top of the shaft into a big triangle, so it wouldn't spin in the drill chuck. All sbc and bb distributors are interchangable, so just about any core will do. Good luck, and...

Thanks, sounds like $20 is the least effort priming my oil pump, I had heard you could do this with an old distributor, but I dont have one laying around.

i think Autozone has the tool, put the deposit down, use it, return it for a full refund.
