Well I got a great deal on this pan, so I decided not to go with the Hambuger pan I was looking at for my 388 sbc. I went with a Canton 11-120 pan. It's 8 quarts including 1qt in the oil filter. One of the nice things is that it's only 7 inches deep so I shouldn't have to much trouble with my car's lowered stance.
Man the sump area is hugh on this thing, I certainly won't be saving much weight with this pan ! On a side note, my short block should be fully assembled by next week :D
:D Thanks guys. Yeah the 7" was really great for my application. I don't see me having any problems with my headers because they don't really go down to the pan ;)
Couple of things...make sure your oil dipstick has a hole for it...just glancing at the images...it doesn't. Canton has had a history of that...terrible to get it on and the dipstick doesn't go in!
Also may want to fill the pan with water to see exactly how much it will hold...my roadrace canton for LT1/4 took just over 6 quarts in the pan, plus not quite one in the filter for total of only 7...don't want the oil to be above the windage tray.
I've had mine on for ~7000 miles with nary a drip...works fine.
Where are the trap doors?? Your original post said you were looking at a road race pan.. ...redvetracr
Your correct, that's why I've decided to send this pan back & get a 15-240 which is a Corvette Road Race pan. The 10-120 pan I got has trap doors in the front & on thew left, I expect the Road Race pan will have them on the right also since it got 5 trap doors instead of the 4 this pan's got ;)
