With some of the big engines going into our street cars traction is "sticky" situation...pun intended. I wonder how MSD's setup (not those using MSD boxes) works in the real world: http://www.hotrod.com/techarticles/g.../113_0311_msd/
nice box!
most of the guys here like to brag how MUCH they can spin the tires and are not interested in actually going fast.
let's see how many exceptions chime in!
Steve, I hope you'll be our test subject on this matter as the box sounds like a great item to add to help launch and run hard instead of spining the rear thru the gears and losing the advantage.
But you're talking about OEM traction control. There they are desperately trying to keep you out of trouble, no matter how badly you want some.
The MSD stuff is programmable. You set the slew rate limit to whatever you think best. Some form of feedback control would be nice, though. Otherwise you have to adjust the system as traction situations change.
Your right L79vette. IT is on my wife's new Bonneville SSEI supercharged and even in snow you can not spin the tires. It applies the brakes and backs off the timing. Makes you think you dopped a few cylinders. I turn it off.
I have a buddy whos got a 92 5.0 with a 347 stroker kit and a PTK turbo kit and he has an aftermarket traction control system i drove it after he installed it once without it and once with it on without it the tires would spin into 3rd, darn that car was quick, then we turned it on and you wouldnt believe how much quicker it was, it hooked right up with a small chirp and accelarated like a rocket, it did before but the difference was unbelievable
