Default Just got back my custom 383 built from scratch!

After Too many months my custom 383 stroker est. 500+ hp engine is done. I just paid the bill tonight and it is off to the garage to be installed along with the rest of the all new and improved drive train! Here is my build sheet direct from the performance shop! I have digital pictures from the shop of the engine but my service can not handle the large pictures they sent me ( to get all the details is the reason for the size) If anyone can post them or just want me to email them to you they are on the way at your request! Just to let you know this engine has the newest Accel generation full intake with the Accel Street Ram setup! Here's the Work list
Engine parts in this engine include the following;

. A raceprepared block with Silverseal steel 4 bolt caps, ARP main studs, parallel decked to 9.00" bored and torue plate honed to 4.030", clearanced for stroker, Durabond cam bearings and Pioneer brass freeze plugs installed.

. EnginePro rotating assembly with a Scat crankshaft 3.750" stroke, Scat I-beam connecting rods 5.700", Speed-Pro coated hypereutectic pistons, Clevite rod and main bearings and JE piston rings.

. Cloyes true roller timing set

. Crane Compucam roller camshaft

. Melling roller lifters

. Fel-Pro gaskets

. Melling oil pump, screen and heavy duty oil pump shaft.

. Pro Topline 200cc Aluminum cylinder heads with a competition valvejob and resurface. Heads were assembled with Manley stainless steel valves, springs, spring cups, retainers, locks, studs, guideplates, pushrods and headbolts. Enginetech valve seals.

. Comp Cams roller tip rocker arms and Mr. Gasket poly locks.

. Pioneer heavy-duty flexplate.

. Carter water pump.

. GM oil pan, oil pan rails, cam plate and bolts, lifter retainers and plate, timing cover.

. Accel Street Ram manifold base, runners and plenum.

. Fram Oil filter

. Rotating assembly computer balanced.

. Cam degreed and piston rings file fit.

. Engine assembled.

Comments are appreciated! Thanks guys!!!!!!!

Sounds like a great engine. What are the specs on the cam? What are you using for induction, stock? Did you increase the injector size? I LOVE THE HOOD!

Just to let you know this engine has the newest Accel generation full intake with the Accel Street Ram setup!
Never mind.

Oh you caught that on the intake. Here are the specs for the cam.

Duration @.050 - 214/220
Lift w/1.5RRs - .452/.465
Lift w/1.6RRs - .482/.496

The engine uses 30 pound injectors.
Thanks! :seeya

It's to bad that shops still use the old externally balanced short rod mentality:(

When for about the same price they could build the motor internally balanced and not have to screw around with heavy dampers and flex plates.

I just have to ask, how do they expect 500+ hp with that intake setup? It looks like a set of large tube runners which would never make that much power from what I've seen in the past.

Thanks!

I think the real limitation is the small cam. The heads and improved TPI might be good choices to make midrange power.

But this is a very mild duration and very low lift for a roller cam

Duration @.050 - 214/220
Lift w/1.5RRs - .452/.465
Lift w/1.6RRs - .482/.496

I think the builder went with this cam because I told him I wanted this engine to last a long time. He felt if he went with something more aggressive it would shorten the life of the engine.

Your builder is very correct. High HP and run fine and last along time should not be used in the same sentence. If your's makes only in the low 400's be happy!:) It's much more powerfull than stock. 383's just beat up 350's

That is pretty much what I asked for before he built it gkull! To have fun but to last a long time! As long as I can scare myself I will be happy! :yesnod:
