383 oil pan question

383 oil pan question
I notice many people getting the 7 quart Moroso pans for their 383. Will the stock pans work or do they need mods where block gets grinded? Why is 7 quarts that great?

I’m using a 350 SBC stock oil pan on my 383. I built the engine in 1992 and have not experienced any problems. If you’re making a lot of heat, an oil cooler would be more effective.

Your dip stick is the same. The full level is the same no matter how deep the pan is.
Your pump is the same. Only it needs a pickup tube for the specific pan.
