Default 406 CI , EFI HP?

Lingenfelter says 1.1 HP per CI isa good rule of thumb, does this sound right?

Is this what you guys have been getting?

Obviously a "wilder" setup could yield more,, and some dynos yield different results,,,,,just curious!

My car is at http://www.Dynotech-eng.com being tuned as we speak and they did a base line run that yielded 385-RWHP/403-RWTQ which was better than the 350-RWHP/376-RWTQ that I got before I tore the engine back apart.

All I did was change from Dart Pro-1 215 CC heads and a 225/233 HR cam to the AFR-210 RR and a 233/233 HR cam..,,, and got 10% more HP and 7% more TQ as noted above.

The final results should be known here in the next few days,, Phil said the car was "pig rich" and that there was more HP to be extracted! I guess we'll see but I am reall happy that the new components gave me a boost. :seeya

wow. I have been waiting for your dyno run as we have similar set ups (mine smaller 383 though). Curious, why did you get rid of the Darts? Good luck with the tune. Mine's pig rich too.

I got rid of the Darts due to spark plug clearance issues, had I not torn the engine apart I would have kept them and sent the Dart's out to have them ported.

Dyno sheet to follow soon!

1.1 per ci...Hmmm my NSX is 184 ci and it puts out 1.7 hp per ci. :D but I was hoping for 1.5 out of my destroked 400ci. It seems to me the better your heads and cam combo(the more $$$ you spend) the more hp per ci. you can make...

My 750cc rice rocket (45 ci) is over 3 hp per ci. It also helps to have 4 valve heads and 13,000 red line.......

I would think that RWHP of 1.1 would be a pretty hot rod if it has only 383 ci.

I'm not really fan of single pattern cams, but yours seems to be working.

It idles really nice @ 800RPM, the hood shakes just a little :D , I gotta say the extra TQ was a nice adder, the car launches like a Rocket at 75MPH, the mid range to top end is crazy strong,

Ol'RJ has a 406 CI and his car is 411RWTQ and 423RWHP using the TPIS 701 cam and my car idles much much nicer. I think his Comp Ported AFR-210's and 6.0" rods combined with the solid roller is making the HP difference. His ildes nice at 1000RPM but his at lower RPM is less streetable, I like his car alot, I always call it the NASCAR cause it sounds just like that. The/my wifey does not like it, nuff said.

All in all I am really happy, and if it gets close to 400RWHP I will consider the engine build a total success. I just wish it could have gone like this the first time, err the second time,,or the 3rd time,,, I guess I'll shut up now :seeya

we will find out in a couple of months how much HP it will make. I'm pulling the old motor out of the vette this weekend. But it should be good for 500+ at least. All my parts are top-of-the-line and I spent a bundle on the heads and engine parts(stoped counting at $11k). :chevy

Hey guys, I leave this morning for my whirlwind tour

Sorry no new info yet but I hope to have it by Friday. I wont post the Dyno sheets until mid next week when I get back

I spoke with Phil last Thursday and told him I would call him this Friday if I did not hear from him first, Phil was pretty sick last week and he got a little behind, the dude sounded terrible for sure.

Well I'm off,,,,,, in more ways than one :lolg:

Default 406 CI , EFI HP?

With the weight of my car(3400 with me in it) and the mph(120.2) I had a calculation of nearly 460 crank hp. The package is 'sposed to be a 440/480 combo. I think it's a bit more :D

Hey guys, I will pick my car up today, Dynotech says my 30# SVO injectors are too big at idle and I need to step down to a slightly smaller injector. Unfortuately it took them 3 weeks of having my car to tell me this. I know they are good and very capable and hope to get it back to them pretty soon. They did not start on it for tuning until this last Saturday. So nothing notable was accomplished other than I had a baseline run of 385hp/403tq. I now will change the injectors to an FMS 24# which flows more than the GM 24# injectors, I wont have any Dyno tuning info for a few weeks depending on when they can work me back in and actually take time to tune on it.

I have a very similar engine to yours, and mine runs great with 36# injectors at the standard 43.5 psi fuel pressure. I use up to about 85% duty cycle at 6000, and about 2.6 ms at idle. I don't see why the 30# svos wouldn't work. What fuel pressure are you running them with?

I was running 42 PSI and will stay with 42 PSI I imagine, just installed 24# SVO's today.
