I have an 82 Corvette with a rebuilt motor, stock trans with a 2500 stall torque converter and stock rear end gear ratio. I want to change the heads to aluminum aftermarket ones for obvious reasons. But what I am looking for is a "hot" street combo of heads, intake, carb, cam and lifters and headers that will net me with a great street motor to play with. I want to retain the stock bottom end because it has been newly rebuilt. So I don't want any combo that will detonate it.
I am looking for part numbers or specifications if possible. Hopefully, some one here has a great recipe for a great street motor.
AFR 195 Street Head
Comp XR282HR
Edel Peformer RPM
Speed Demon 750
That aught to run nicely, probably run about $2800.
Have fun!...and good luck.
:iagree: Don't forget a good set of headers (Hooker Super comps), and a mandrel bent 2.5" exhaust system with mufflers that will flow 500 cfm each with no back pressure (Dynomax publishes flow figures for their performance mufflers).
Edit: I don't know if you drive much on the highways, but I wouldn't change ratios if you do much highway driving unless you have overdrive. My 3:73's suck on the highway (no overdrive).
