Default Angle milling heads

Anyone ever have this done? What problems/advantages can I expect? Does the manifold have to be re-milled also or is all the correction done on the head? I have a set of 72cc chamber heads and I want to get them down some.

Any advice on this process would be helpfull.

The bulk of the correction is done on the head, I would still verify this using machinist dye.

How much do you need to take off? It is .008" flat mill per cc for my AFR's.

On mine enough was taken off that intake manifolds must be machined to match.

I used to do this quite a bit when I worked in automotive machine
shops, and the other problem you can run into depending on
how much you mill them is the coolant passages around the spark
plugs getting too close to the head gasket fire ring around the combustion
chamber. On earlier heads these were drilled holes and could be plugged.
On later heads these passages are cast and might be harder to plug.

Check with your machine shop.

yeah, you definitely need to check with your machine shop. your '88 heads are 58cc stock, I believe. why did you get a set of heads with 72cc chambers? you're going to have a substantial amount taken off to reach 58cc, or a smaller chamber which would be even better. you probably would have been much better off getting 64cc chambers to begin with, and i'm assuming you bought a set of aftermarket heads.

Your assumption is correct, I'm speaking of my AFR 210's that were only offered with 76cc chambers. My 383 uses flat top pistons and I wanted to raise the compression.
