Automatic trans gurus?? looking for help with a lazy 2-3 shift.
I took it to the trans shop, and he said," it seems okay, but I'll pull her apart again if you'd like". For a hefty fee, I'm sure.
From a dead stop, if I floor it to about 50, and let off the gas, it takes almost 2 seconds for her to shift into 3rd.
When I posted this a year or two ago, someone linked me to a turbo buick forum, where there was an experienced tranny guy from NY.
I called the guy up, and he told me to take out some valve or something, and grind off a bit off the lip to allow more fluid to go past and let it shift a bit harder.
It was quite a while ago, and I never got around to it since my car has been sitting in the garage for almost 2 years. Unfortunatly, I forgot most of what this guy told me, and I don't have his number anymore.
Does anybody know a fix for a lazy 2-3 shift, or do you know what valve and lip this guy referred to??
Oh, BTW, there's someone else that's got a auto trans question in the C3 section that could also use a little help- http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zerothread?id=852521
Thanks in advance fellas!
A shift improver, or reprogramming kit would likely do the trick. Not the small kit with just the separator plate. B & M has the TransPak, and there are competitors to it available. Your discription of the problem sounds, to me, like an assembly problem. I'd make sure the technicion is familiar with the symtoms (make him go for a ride with you) and let him fix his work.
RACE ON!!!
