Default rev kit with solid roller lifters on the street?

I've heard both views on this one and wanted to know if there is any benefit to using a rev kit on the street to help the lifters live longer. I did have a rev kit save me once in the past when a rocker stud broke...

Any other recommendations for street life with solid rollers? I'm using a tighter lash CC street roller with ISKY lifters (no lube hole on these) in a SBC. It is a 400 with a superram so rpms will never exceed 6500 and I have used street roller valve springs with crower rockers and no stud girdle.

Thanks

Use the rev kit, but substitute some used roller springs for the weak ones supplied with the kit. The extra spring pressure will help offset the weight of the valves and free up some horsepower

Default Add up the total pressure

I pulled my rev kit out - It added about 25#'s to my 195# SR springs. Way more than I needed for 7500 red line.

Default Rev kit goal - make lifters live longer on the street

With an SR and a 400 cu in motor I don't think my revs will ever get over 6200. So I have no need for additional rpm capability. What I have been told by some is that using a rev kit will keep the lifters in better rolling contact with the lobes at idle and help them better survive the pounding that low speed idle on the street often creates. Then I've also heard others say that anything you can do to lower spring rates will help the lifters live longer.

I've never had good life with solid rollers on the street, but I was always using a much more aggressive race cam with higher spring pressure along with a rev kit. The street rollers are supposed to be much better....

I had always thought the rev kits were for hydraulic rollers ?

I guess you could use it on a solid to stop the roller from jumping or skipping off the backside of the lobe I don't know, but they make some pretty nice street rollers these days with fairly low spring pressures and still very healthy cams, I would not think you would need a rev kit on these.
