Would love to put a centrifugal blower on my 454 70 coupe but there isnt much space under the hood and I cant imagine it fitting. Height and width are issues. If a right angle drive were available that could work but I cant find one. One option could be to fit two small blowers (C-2 prochargers).
Does anyone know of a similar setup that doesnt cut up panels.
So would I, Procharger has some nice units that would work but the standard brackets mount it up and forward of the cylinder head and out of the hood and fender. Maybe a big, single turbo could be packaged between the radiator and the water pump.
I asked about a Super Charger for our application and this is there reply.
I wish I would be able to give you the answer as well. Though we
have never attempted to put a SBC system on that year corvette. The
tight hood clearance and other aspects of the car, look as though it
will be a challenge. I can say that I have seen people do it, though
as to how, I am unsure. I would think that the best options would be
to search the internet, for similar set ups.
Found some compact european units but they are designed for smaller motors and very exy, at least for my aussie dollar wallet.
Confident the two small c3 unit would fit if I adapt a late model small asian car alternater above the water pump. Could use an twin 4brl offenhauser low rise single plane manifold. Would look trick, be efficient but will be difficult to fabricate, at least for me.

Wasn't there something called a "Magnacharger". I saw this in a Corvette magazine many years ago. It fit under a stock big block hood and doubled the horsepower of the motor. I believe it utilized side draft carburetors. All in all it was a very nice set-up. You may look into that.
Try Whipple, if I recall, they have some EFI superchargers that have an overall height very similar to intake manifold/carb/air cleaner. You would have to add the EFI related items (computer) and some sort of duct and air filter to get the air into the unit. May be worth looking into.

You don't have to have fuel injection. But whipple's need some amount of clearance above the motor as well.
There used to be a guy here with a centrifugal supercharger on a big block C3, it was pretty nutty, like 900hp. He cut the hood in the spots where the ducting was too tall, looked pretty sweet actually.
