Here is some info I pulled up quickly.........
For the casting #

3963512 427 68-69 Pass 385, 425 HP
3963512 427 69 Chevelle, Camaro COPO
3963512 427 69 Corvette Late 69
3963512 454 70 Corvette, Pass 360, 390 HP
3963512 454 70 Chevelle LS6, 450 HP
3963512 454 70-71 Pass, Chevelle, Monte Carlo
3963512 454 71 Corvette 365, 425 HP
3963512 454 73-75 Chevelle

As for the front pad:

There is another type of stamping found on some blocks. This is the "CE" code. You might see something like this "CE123456" on the front pad of the block deck on the passenger side. The "CE" which alternatively has been known to stand for "Chevrolet Engine" or "Crate Engine" was used on blocks that were warranty replacement motors. The "CE" prefix was also used on "over the counter" blocks and engines. If a customer had problems with his original motor, while it was under warranty, it was replaced with an engine that was stamped "CE" with a number of numeral digits following it which serialized that particular engine. Likewise if a purchaser bought a new motor from the Chevrolet Parts counter, the front pad on the pasenger side of the block may have been stamped with a "CE" code.

You may want to check the front pad really good to see if there is any more info and check the head casting #s as well
Good luck

Above usage of this block is correct. Some were 2 some were 4 bolt mains. Hi-perf stamp is common and does not mean 4 bolt mains. You have a date stamp also on the passenger side of the lower block near a frezze plug which you can use to de-code when it was forged. It was likely made at teh Tonawonda (sp?) plant.

By the way, hold on to it. It 's a good block. They don't make 'em like that anymore!!!

Regards, Mark

i am going to hold on to it,its a complete motor that was running in a 65 vette that I bought, the guy i got it from built the motor and said its around 550hp, I did locate the heads online and they are high dollar gm performance alum heads (1100 per side) i am going to try to get ahold of the guy to find out what else is in the motor, now I just need a new project to put it in as i took it out of the 65 to replace it with the factory L79 that came with the car.

thanks
