So I have finished clearancing the block and double checked all the clearances to make my 396 stroker work when this happens...
Put the oil pan on during the latest pre-fit and it doesn't Clear!!!! So short of buying an after market pan already notched for the larger throws does anybody have a method to "dimple" the pan at the flange area for clearance or am I buying a new one??

 

You be buying a new one, 3.875 stroke ? What rods ?

Moroso has nice new stroker pan just out a few months ago it's clear finish nice not too expensive almost bought one myself except I didn't need it

Hey MotorHead you got that Part Number for the new Moroso PaN still?? I would love to check it out!

comp--- the problem with using the hammer is that it would bend the flange on the pan and then causing oil leaks. It is not as simple as dimpling a header primary for clearance. I actually need to move the lip of the pan where the throws pass. I was hoping someone had an idea for a jig to use in the shop press or something. I guess I'll try banging it out and then order the new pan once I've relieved the stress this has caused

Thanks for the info but I had Kevkoracing make me a pan already. it's a 7" wide sump road racer with all the bells and whistles..
Yep I'm in Suffolk..nope not balck with a stripe and wing.. Polo Green with Sawblades right now... Got me some new Silver A molds though and I plan on doing a GS Theme stripe and hash marks soon. Before i bought a real stroker pan. I used a piece of one inch heavy wall pipe and statigically placed it where i was dimpling the pan.

I placed the pan edge on a 2X4 wood block and went to work with a hammer.
