Gentlemen, here is what I have. The 82 has a cooked motor and a first year 4 speed auto. Plan was to drop in the L98. well yesterday this guy comes in with a tired LS1 and 4L80e??. Plan now is to freshen the new auto and take the induction, ignition, and computer from the cop car and add it to the L98 long block, bolt on some side pipes and drop it all in the 82. I am looking for suspected pitfalls!!!!
oops, I wish I had a police LS1, what I have is a 94 LT1 intake/injection setup with computer.

LT1 is a reverse flow motor. Coolant passages are different. Plus, you have the Optispark on the LT1 vice a regular distributor so there are no provisions to run a regular distributor (no hole). Not even sure if the LT1 computer will work with a distributor.
Sorry dude. You are better off selling the LT1 and using the funds to get some better parts for the L98.
This guy converts LT1 and LT4 intake for use on early blocks. He drills a distributor hole and re-routes some coolant passages. Here's the link www.lt1intake.com
The coolant is directed from the pump into the block then 90 degrees towards the head, early heads do not have a hole here to accept coolant flow thus rendering the cooling system useless.
See the big holes along the top of the deck between the boars
The old sbc has 3 and the LT1 has 5 the ones on the front go directly to the pump.

Be careful. One of the guys from the So Cal f-body club bought injectors from him. They were for the wrong engine, they were used, not reconditioned as described. The guy spent as much for used injectors as he would for new ones as well as fighting a months long battle to get the guy to do the right thing. This doesn't even take into account the time spent installing injectors, finding out they don't work, taking them out and testing them to find out that they don't work and then arguing with the guy who tried to say they were good when he sent them out and this guy oin So Cal must have screwed them up. I think the same guy also bought one of his Lt1 manifolds for use on an L98. The theory is sound, but since he drilled out the openning for the distributor by hand instead of with a milling machine, it didn't line up. It is not a bad mod, but you need someone who is a machinist not a "shade tree" to do the work for you.

My plan was to transfer everything onto the short block, intake, water pump, front distributor etc... but those coolant holes in the block look to be a problem....
