Default Engine break-in and seating the rings...

What is the best way to do this. Cam is already broken in. My plan is to run the car up to 3500 or 4000 rpm in say 3rd gear and let off the throttle back down to 1500 and repeat several times. I know it is important to build some cylinder pressure during this process. Any suggestions?

Btw, the slugs are SRP forgings with moly rings, gapped in the middle of the spec.

That is the way I would do it. The power on, builds combustion pressure to force the rings against the cylinder wall to seat them. The alternate compression braking, sucks oil up on to the rings and cylinders walls, to prepare them for the next cycle. I might start with half throttle the first few times, and increase it from there, gradually, to full throttle. Be careful about going down as low as 1500 rpms. You don't want to lug the engine.

right after the cam break in I would have drained the oil while it was still nice and hot to get rid of any grit and the assembly lube.

Moly rings are not like rings of 30+ years ago. I have just tried to plan a trip of over 500 miles and just drive easy. Not over 3000 rpm and never more than 75% of the throttle. Some where between 500 and 1000 miles the motor just seems to wake up. Vacuum goes up - it rotates freely. Change the oil again and then go out and have fun! I'm big on light weight motor oil. I only run 5W-30 and 10W-30

I totally agree with light weight motor oil with breaking in a new motor. If it were my motor, I would use dino oil for that task.
