Brodix 18x are bad arssed. As far as I can tell the only trick part that they require are 18* pistons. The valve train, intake and exhaust are all standard I think. On another note, the 244cc intake volume is misleading because as the head is rolled out, the intake volume increase even if the port cross section remains the same.

I'd love to build a big inch small block with some of them.

I never thought about the cross section being the same with the rolled valve. Can't beat a 320 CFM head right out of the box for under 2K though.

That's my dream motor, 427 CID with these heads 250-260 roller cam. vic jr and a 950 HP. It looks like 580 HP on DD2000.

Maybe some day...

gkull:

Sorry for the delay in responding, I was out of town last week. You misunderstood my latest posts. I realize that with -20cc pistons you can get pump gas friendly compressions, I was just concerned that the only pistons I've seen in a 454 at -20cc have been full dish with little quench area.

I also haven't seen any other gasket than the Fel-Pro 1036 that is set for a 4.25" bore. The Fel-Pro 1036 has a .051" compressed height.

Thanks for giving a data point on Bill Mitchell's engine builds.

The .021 coppers is what i've been using in my last 2-3 motors.

As for pistons. 4.250 bore small blocks is not very common. I couldn't find any on the Wiseco site.
