Default mid year exhaust options

looking to replace exhaust on my 64 vert I have headers , what are my options for mufflers and size of exhaust that will fit . I was thinking of 2.5 " system .

You won't have any problem with 2 1/2" pipes as that was what most mid years had from the factory. You have numerous choices in mufflers. The stock muffler's dimensions are close to many after-market ones and they can be used with the stock hangers as long as you get the same configuration (inlet/outlet offsets). I will caution you about the "direct fit" name brand mufflers sold by some of the Corvette parts houses. They're the same mufflers that you can get elsewhere for 1/2 the price except for some extensions that any muffler shop can duplicate in a couple of minutes.
