Last year my Dad gave me his 57 Vette. It is in very very nice condition. It has what he has told me is a 283 with 2 4 bbls in it and a hard top, and a bunch of other things but these are all things he was told when he bought the car a few years ago. So, what is the best way to find out what I have without looking like a fool at an ncrs event and being told I have a kit car?
How about joining NCRS, along with your local NCRS chapter? Then, how about ordering the Technical Reference and Judging Manual for the 1957 Corvette and getting familiar with it and your car?
Along the while you can attend the chapter meetings - ours in OK does a breakfast meeting once a month - and have some of your new best friends help you look over what you've got.
Hopefully you'll find that the membership dues and reference manuals are one of the best investments you can make for your Corvette experience. Good luck. Let us know how it goes.
all 57's had 283's so you dont have to worry about that and only two engines came with 2x4 carbs they were the 245hp (469a) and 270hp (469c) everything else was fuel injection

Those engines were all optional - the standard engine was a single 4-barrel, 230hp.
I can recommend The Corvette Restoration Guide Vols I (your '57) and II (Sting Rays) by Noland Adams. Excellent reference sources and completely engrossing reading.
I would recommend taking it to the next NCRS meeting in your area and have it judged. Then you will know what you have. Then you can decide whether you want to restore it to Top Flight or just use it as a driver. Or if it is a very original car and you are not into NCRS type cars, you may want to sell it.
I have just joined this forum the other day and I just want to say thanks, I have done a lot of reading on the forum the last two days and have gotten a lot of info from these posts.
