I have a '72 base 350/200hp auto, in the book "Corvette Restoration Guide 1968-1982 by Richard Prince, he lists two Rochester MV4s for this application.
350/200, automatic 7042202
350/200, automatic with NB2 7042902
The NB2 stands for Exhaust Emission Control option.
My question is, What is the NB2 option( I can not find any other information on it in the book) and how do I know if my car had it if I don't have a build sheet etc? I don't know which carb to look for.
The NB2 option refers to base engine cars equipt with an air injection pump or smog pump. This was standard on all LT1's and 454 b/b's. It was only installed on base engine cars delivered for sale in California. So if you own a CA car you would have an air pump and carb # 7042903 (4sp) or 7042902 (auto).
If you do not have a Ca car then you would not have an air pump and you should have carb # 7042203 (4sp) or 7042202 (auto).
Thanks guys, I have an automatic GA car. The POP was with it and shows it was delivered to a customer in Augusta, Ga on 12/27/71. I don't have the correct carb and saw a 7042902 on Ebay. Check item 7972098475 before 5/9/05.
