There are people selling them on ebay the number were not typed it was an imprint from the protecto plate sometimes the imprint would also have at the bottom left the trans and rear axle codes. Paul
there's a guy on ebay that sells them, he will type all of you're decal info onto the new decal if you ask him, the font that he has is not exactly like the original, but it's close.
he did one for my '73 convertible, it looks pretty good!
PS. When you use this internet address make sure you include the "s" in trimtags. There's another internet address that's trimtag.com. You don't want this one.
Says APPLICABLE GENERAL MOTORS VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARDS instead of APPLICABLE FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE STANDARDS.
It is a shame because the label is pretty good otherwise. They claim that theirs is liscensed by GM and that GM will not allow the label to be created to perfection. However they do have the correct verbiage on their 73 and up label. Go figure.
This would be a perfect item for the Corvette Museum to reproduce exactly like the original. We could provide a copy of our valid registration with VIN so they can create the label for a price.
This wouldn't be like getting someone to forge a VIN to make a car something it never was. This is just a decal with the build date and VIN.
The correct description of the label is ID Decal.
If I can get a decent original I am pretty sure I can make one for my car.
Thank you for all the input. All ideas are welcome.
Here are some examples. All from LT-1s. Note faint engine codes in bottom left and differential code under vin on 1st and transmission code under vin of 3rd. 2nd only has H after vin for holley. These stickers are often overlooked "documentation" to help substantiate original engine.
