It looks like my block was machined, the front pad on the passenger side has no data stamped. the casting number is 3963512, the date code is L14 9, it is a 71 LS5 4 Speed, built Sept 11, 1970. Is there somewhere to get this done, what info should be stamped be on the pad? All other casting infor is correct for heads, intake, axle,Trans etc. Any help would be appreciated.
If judging is in your plan, that block isn't going to fly with a 1969 casting date nine months prior to the car's assembly date.
Could this be a reop block (engine) that sat around at Tonawanda ?? This is a early new low compression 1971 LS5 Corvette with the new 8.5:1 pistons. Who knows what Tonawanda did. Rick, do you have any paper work with this Corvette ? Was it Canadian delivered ? Also you said all other numbers match on the car. Every number in engine compartment also ? The reason I ask is because stranger things have happened. Save the Wave.>George

Hi George,
Thanks for responding, yes the car was delivered to Brampton Ontario, Canada. The shipping date was Sept. 2, 1970. I have to check the rest of engine compartment, it's been awhile and I'm not currently home, but for example the mainifold date I think was around Feb 1970.
