Default Replacement shocks

Well guys, I'm considering various changes to the '67 that will make it a tad more comfortable to drive. It rides hard, which I can deal with, but over bumps it tends to really jounce. Seems to me like the shocks are quite hard. Any input or opinions?

Bill

Bill,

If you've got jounce (is that Swiss for bounce?) then it sounds like the shocks are too soft, not too hard. The universal recommendation for getting a soft ride is good ole GM bog standard Delco replacments. I have them on four corners of the '73 and find them just right.

Mike,

When you try to rock your car, are you able to depress the suspension by any amount. With my full weight (almost 200 lbs) I can barely make a corner of the car move. This is the front or back.

Bill

PS I don't know where 'jounce' comes from - maybe a combination of jerky bounce?

[QUOTE] jerky bounce?

That's a common sexual technique in Victoria and really west Texas I hear. Never mind.

My car has aftermarket HD springs on the front and the fibreglass equivalent of a HD spring on the rear. Let me run to the garage and see something-

OK I'm back. :D I can get maybe an inch bounce out of either end if I really try (230 lbs).

Try disconnecting your rear shocks and see how much boing boing you get then.

Het ! I just noticed - I'm a senile member now

The GM Reactec shocks are very good, and when painted the right color look quite original on my 64. If you don't care about originality, I have had great results with KYB shocks on my 78. Either way, new gas shocks tend to make a big difference in both ride and handling.
